Celebrating "Spooky Season"

Happy October, My Loves!

I hope this autumn finds you all well and happy as we gear up for entering a new season.  I absolutely adore fall.  It's the reason why I don't think I'll ever be able to leave New England permanently.  I love the crisp air, the fairs, and the best part is that Halloween -- my absolute FAVE holiday -- happens during the fall.

While I'm not a conventional gal by nature, I must admit that when it comes to Halloween costumes, I tend to stick with the spooky theme.  The idea behind dressing up for Halloween comes from the old pagan belief that on All Hallow's Eve the veil between our world and the next is at it's thinnest.  In order to keep safe from the spirits able to walk between the two dimensions, we humans must "blend in", appearing as other-worldly spirits ourselves.

While witches may not be other-worldly, they certainly blend well between both our reality and that of the spirits.  So most years, I dress up as a witch.  I already have lots of black clothes, so it's an easy costume for me.  Plus, I love hats of all kinds, and the traditional conical witch hat is one of my favorites, as you can see in the pic above.

Last year I did a few fun Halloween prints.  Here are a couple of my faves:

The original of this purple witch was a gift for a dear friend.  But the print will be for sale here in the shop soon.  Along with this cute little "kitty":

As the month progresses, I'll be sharing more Halloween and autumn-inspired prints.  I hope you love them as much as I loved creating them.

XOXO
